2. Purpose and significance of disinfection
The significance of disinfection is to interrupt the continuity of the process of epidemics and prevent the spread of infectious diseases, thereby protecting the masses from the infectious pathogen hazards. In accordance with the purpose of disinfection, it can be divided into two categories: (1) Preventive disinfection: there is no clear source of infection, disinfection of places and objects might be contaminated by pathogenic microorganisms and other harmful micro-organisms, such as offices, public places, transport and other disinfection.
(2) Disinfection of infection source: Disinfection of the place infectious diseases existing or existed. Its purpose is to kill or remove the source of infection pathogens, such as disinfection of infectious diseases wards and patients. |

3. Common disinfection method (1) physical disinfection: the use of physical factors that kill or remove pathogenic microorganisms and other harmful microbes. Physical disinfection methods commonly used are natural purification, mechanical sterilization, heat sterilization, radiation sterilization, disinfection of ultrasonic, microwave disinfection. (2) Chemical disinfection: the use of chemical reagents for disinfection. Commonly used disinfectants are aldehydes, alkylation gas, chlorine compounds, iodine compounds, phenols, alcohols, quaternary ammonium salts, acids and esters, peroxides, two guanidine, metal preparation. (3) Biological disinfection. |
